DeezShop (www.deezshop.ca) is our own Canadian print-on-demand apparel store, and it is the headless Shopify store example we point clients to. We built it in May 2026 on Next.js with Shopify handling commerce, and we have run it ourselves since. Here is what the build delivered.
The goal
Prove that a headless Shopify store can be fast, fully custom and simple to operate, on a real store with real products, before we recommend the approach to anyone else.
What we built
- A custom Next.js storefront on Vercel that reads the catalogue through the Shopify Storefront API. Shopify handles cart, checkout, payments, provincial tax and orders.
- Convex for everything Shopify does not do: customer reviews, a loyalty points ledger, scheduled jobs and the personalization tools.
- Canadian fulfilment through Printify and a printer in Vaughan, so every product ships domestically with no customs.
- 41 collections managed from one config file, with seasonal drops merchandised in Shopify without a redeploy.
- Automated stock reconciliation every six hours that reads the printer's availability and updates Shopify, so the store never sells a size that cannot be made.
- Shipping rules built in: a flat $9.99 rate, free shipping over $120 CAD, and a 10% welcome offer.
- Meta Pixel, GA4, a product feed for Google Merchant Center, and a 36-post blog, all wired in.
The results
- 348 pages indexed in Google Search Console by September 2026.
- 21,600 search impressions in 90 days from a brand-new domain, with no paid promotion.
- Desktop largest contentful paint of 1.0 seconds on product pages.
- On-page SEO score of 94.6 out of 100 across the store, with 116 product pages at a perfect 100.
- 467 commits across 74 working days, which is what a store that keeps improving looks like.
What it means for your store
Headless Shopify gives you a storefront that loads fast, looks exactly the way you want, and still runs on Shopify's checkout. The trade is that the catalogue, sitemap and feeds are yours to keep in sync, which is why we built automation for all three.
